Art is always a hard thing for me to thrift. I can pick up dishware and furniture secondhand and be pretty sure of what I love right away. But with art, there is always something so much harder and less definable about it. So when I do find a piece I keep coming back to, I try to pay attention.
That’s how this piece was for me. I came across this painted portrait while flipping through the stacks of art at the thrift store the other week. The colours and brush strokes on this piece were beautiful. I still wasn’t sure about it, but when I realized I was worried someone else would snatch it up, I knew that I already loved it.
There is something about portraits that I find so intriguing. They have so much personality and that bit of quirk, that every time I see them in a space I am in love.
